Shear Sharpening
You can expect the following when having your tools sharpened with Colorado Shears:
1. Inspect
2. Disassemble (if necessary)
3. Clean blades and all other parts
4. Rework / polish the inside rideline area
5. Triple hand hone the convex edge to the original factory specifications for angles and sharpness
6. Polish blades
7. Check and replace bearing (if necessary)
8. Check and replace bumper (if necessary)
9. Check and replace finger tang (if necessary)
10. Reassemble
11. Balance shear to factory specifications
12. Oil
13. Test
14. Hand back to client or wrap properly for shipment
*Mail-in sharpening orders will be shipped back to you within 5-8 business days of receiving your package.

Do you travel to my area?
I travel to Castle Rock, Monument, Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Falcon, Security, Fountain, Canon City, Florence, Pueblo, Rocky Ford, and La Junta. If you are outside of that area I offer mail-in sharpening as well! You can find the mail-in order form above.
What type of machine do you use?
I use a machine called the Hira-To®. The Hira-To® is a single head flat hone designed to recreate the factory look and edge on high end convex or semi-convex beauty, barber, grooming, and upholstery shears.
How long will you have my shears?
When you set up an appointment with me directly, then your shears will be serviced and handed back to you same day! Each shear usually takes approximately 20 minutes to be serviced but could take longer if they have not been cared for properly.
Mailed-in shears will be mailed back to you within 5-8 business days once I receive your package.
Do you have shears I can use while you're sharpening mine?
Yes! I have 80 right-handed shears and 20 left-handed shears to choose from while I'm servicing your shears.
I do not carry any extra nail scissors or upholstery shears with me.
Do your sharpen lefties?
Yes! The Hira-To® has the capability to spin clockwise or counterclockwise, which makes sharpening lefties possible.
